House rewiring & new home electrical wiring

Older wiring, a stripped-back renovation or a new house build are good opportunities to get electrical circuits, lighting, switch positions and future requirements planned properly. We take on full and partial rewiring and new-build electrical enquiries.

Rewiring is a planned electrical project. Extent, access, existing wiring condition, switchboard capacity and building stages affect the scope and price.

Wiring projects that need clear planning

Unlike everyday electrical repairs, rewiring and new-build work often involve multiple trades, wall or ceiling access and staged testing.

Full house rewiring

Assess ageing or unsuitable existing circuits and develop a replacement scope based on access and the home's layout.

Partial rewiring

Replace or extend defined sections of wiring during upgrades, repairs, kitchen or bathroom renovation and alterations.

New home rough-in and fit-off

Plan circuits, outlets, switches, lighting and fixed-appliance connections through appropriate building stages.

Switchboard and protection planning

Review circuit capacity, protective devices, earthing and the condition of the existing board alongside the proposed wiring.

Lighting, power and future loads

Allow for practical switching, external power, heat-pump or EV requirements, data outlets and additional dedicated circuits.

Renovation coordination

Work around wall access, other trades, structural constraints, finishes and safe temporary power arrangements.

Before booking

What we check before the work starts.

Access to cables

Ceilings, wall linings, roof spaces and flooring affect how much wiring can be replaced without other building work.

Existing installation

Testing and inspection may reveal legacy wiring or circuits that need a broader scope than first expected.

Plans and room layout

Drawings and a room-by-room outlet and lighting schedule help avoid changes after walls are closed.

Testing and certificates

Applicable work is tested and documented, with NSW CCEW submitted through the prescribed process.

How the work is organised

Four practical steps.

01

Share plans and priorities

Send drawings if available, the suburb, building type, problem areas and desired electrical changes.

02

Agree scope and stages

Review circuits, access, switchboard work, temporary supply and coordination with the builder or other trades.

03

Complete rough-in and wiring

Install the agreed wiring and accessories at appropriate stages while maintaining required protections and access.

04

Fit-off, test and document

Complete suitable fit-off, electrical testing and applicable NSW electrical compliance certificates.

Useful first message: the site suburb, the issue or proposed job, safe photos and any essential access or timing details. We can then discuss the right assessment or quote pathway.
Answers before you enquire

Common questions about house rewiring & new home electrical wiring.

Can you rewire an older home while it is occupied?

Possibly, depending on access, circuit layout and safe isolation arrangements. We scope disruption and temporary power requirements before the job.

Do you do new build electrical rough-ins?

Yes. We can discuss new residential wiring projects, rough-in and fit-off in coordination with the construction schedule.

Will the switchboard need replacing too?

Not necessarily, but the existing protection, capacity and condition should be assessed as part of a rewiring project.

Can the wiring be replaced without removing wall linings?

Some routes may be accessible through roof or floor spaces; other sections can require building access and subsequent patching by the relevant trade.

Can data outlets be included?

Yes, subject to the relevant cabling registration and competencies. Combining electrical and communications planning can help during an open-wall stage.

Do you provide electrical compliance documentation?

Yes. Applicable electrical installation work is tested and NSW CCEW documentation is submitted as required.
