Registered data & communications cabling

Need a reliable wired network for your home, office or worksite? Berryman Electrical offers registered data and communications cabling services, including practical Ethernet outlet locations, copper data runs and structured cabling arrangements appropriate to the site.

We hold cabling registration. All work is assessed against our registration category, applicable specialist competencies and Australia's customer cabling rules; carrier network infrastructure is outside the private customer cabling scope.

Data cabling for practical everyday use

Wired connections can support reliable working areas, offices and network equipment. We plan the cable route, terminations and safe separation from mains services.

CAT6 and Ethernet outlets

Discuss new RJ45 outlets and copper network cabling for workstations, living areas and home offices.

Office and commercial cabling

Add or modify appropriate communications outlets and structured cable paths for suitable business premises.

Patch panels and cabinets

Plan tidy cable termination, identification and patching arrangements for small communications cabinets.

Home office and study connections

Provide fixed data runs where Wi-Fi coverage or reliability makes a hardwired connection desirable.

Renovations and new builds

Coordinate suitable communications cable routes and outlet positions with electrical rough-in and fit-off.

Cabling changes and fault isolation

Assess accessible customer-owned cabling, terminations and relevant wiring issues within registration scope.

Before booking

What we check before the work starts.

Registration and competencies

Customer cabling is performed by a registered cabler with the category and additional competencies required for the particular work.

Network boundaries

Carrier/NBN-owned or network-side equipment and faults may need the carrier or an authorised service technician.

Cable planning and separation

Routes, support, bend radius, electromagnetic interference and separation from mains services must meet relevant rules.

Cabling advice and records

Provide the required telecommunications cabling advice form and relevant installation information for completed work.

How the work is organised

Four practical steps.

01

Describe the network requirement

Tell us how many points are needed, the property type, desired equipment locations and any plans.

02

Review routes and scope

Assess wall, ceiling and conduit access, communication cabinet position and applicable cabling standards.

03

Install and terminate

Carry out suitable registered copper communications cabling work and make the requested terminations.

04

Test and document

Complete appropriate checks and provide cabling advice and relevant handover details as required.

Useful first message: the site suburb, the issue or proposed job, safe photos and any essential access or timing details. We can then discuss the right assessment or quote pathway.
Answers before you enquire

Common questions about data & communications cabling.

Are you registered to install data cabling?

Yes. Berryman Electrical holds cabling registration and undertakes work within the applicable registration category and competencies.

Can you run CAT6 cable to a home office?

We can assess Ethernet outlet and copper cabling installations where the building access and our registration scope permit.

Do you install both power and data for office fit-outs?

We can discuss the electrical and customer communications cabling together while keeping each work type within its relevant requirements.

Can you modify my NBN network connection?

Customer-owned cabling and carrier-owned network equipment are different. Network-side changes may require your internet provider or the NBN-authorised technician.

Will you supply a cabling compliance form?

Registered cabling work is carried out to applicable rules, and we provide the required telecommunications cabling advice documentation.

Can you diagnose slow internet?

We can assess relevant customer data cabling and terminations. ISP service issues, router configuration and provider infrastructure faults may need a separate network specialist.
